The Australian Security Research Centre is a think tank on domestic security and disasters. The Centre undertakes independent, evidence-based analysis of both traditional and evolving security, and disaster issues. Its core activities are:

The Centre has three programs:
- Domestic Security, Disaster Management and Resilience Program
- Climate Change Adaptation and Infrastructure Program
- Pandemic Program
The Centre's 2010 priority areas are:
- Integrating climate change adaptation into emergency services and infrastructure organisations as a result of climate change
- Enhancing resilience of communities, organisations and individuals
- Analysing new security threats including pandemics, energy security and economic security
- Enhancing the domestic use of defense forces
- Integrating psycho-social care into emergency response and disaster management
- Professionalising the security sector
